GA Institution Admission Requirements
- Use to apply to most public institutions in Georgia.
- Create account, click "College Planning," then click "College Applications" and select your school.
- Review fee waiver policy for each school on their individual websites (or ask College AIM) before beginning application.
- Have College AIM review each application before submitting.

- Make sure to complete the Common App tab, and each school's supplement on the Colleges tab.
FINANCIAL AID
- Opens on October 1st!
- ALL STUDENTS SHOULD COMPLETE to receive government aid including: Pell Grant, Work Study, (low interest) Stafford Loans, HOPE Scholarship, HOPE Grant and Zell Miller Scholarship.
- Current high school seniors should complete the 2020-2021 FAFSA for next school year and will need parents/guardians' 2018 tax return.
- Students planning to enroll in a program that begins over the summer (such as a bridge program) should also complete the 2019-2020 FAFSA and will need parents/guardians' 2017 tax return.
- Only required by schools on this list.
- Allows students to receive need-based grants and scholarships.
- Should be completed ASAP.
- May require student to upload tax documents after completion to Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC).
Scholarships
- 5 Strong Scholarship Foundation (by Dec 1)
- Full-tuition scholarship plus social and academic support at 9 HBCUs.
- Minimum 2.8 GPA/990 SAT/19 ACT.
- Community Foundation (by Feb 15 at 5 pm)
- Various scholarships of various amounts. In particular look for:
- Dreams Squared Scholarship - for students with GPA 2.0 - 3.0
- Nancy Penn Lyons Scholarship Fund - for students going to selective out-of-state or private institutions (Minimum 3.0 GPA/1000 SAT/22 ACT)
- Steve Dearduff Scholarship Fund - for students pursuing degrees in medicine or social work (Minimum 2.0 GPA)
- James M. & Virginia M. Smyth Scholarship Fund -for students pursuing a degree in the arts and sciences, human services, music or ministry (Minimum 3.0 GPA)
- Women’s Chamber Of Commerce Scholarship Fund - for female students pursuing any degree (Minimum 3.0 GPA/1000 SAT/22 ACT)
- Various scholarships of various amounts. In particular look for:
- State Farm Scholarship (by March 15)
- Georgia State University - Decatur Campus
- $4,000/year + social/academic/career support.

- 20 hours of practice on Khan Academy is associated with a 115-point increase from the PSAT to the SAT, so get going!

- Take a full-length practice test (best way to improve your score), sign up to receive an ACT question-of-the-day and complete the 20-minute ACT workout.
